Star of the blockbuster The Avengers,Samuel L. Jackson is set to host the 12th Annual BET Awards. The show will features performances by Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj. Kanye West and others.

West garnered the most nods this year with seven, followed by the dynamic duo,  Beyonce (6), and her husband Jay-Z, who received five.

Viewers cA tribute is set for fallen music icons Whitney Houston, Donna Summer,Don Cornelius and Amy Winehouse to name a few.  Maze feat. Frankie Beverly will be receiving the Cadillac Lifetime Achievement Award.

The BET Awards will air live from L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium on Sunday, July 1 at 8/7c on BET.
