Former Congressman Faces Possible Jail Time For Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud & More
Former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has reportedly signed a plea deal on Feb 1st. Specifically pleading guilty to misusing campaign funds. The guilty plea opens the door for a possible jail sentence. Included in the guilty plea, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, mail fraud and false statements.
NBC Chicago reported that Jackson would need to repay the funds to the government “hundreds of thousands” to cover the funds which he used for his own personal items.
Purportedly, Jackson, who’s married, used $40,000 to purchase a Rolex watch a female acquaintance” .
CBS Chicago, reports that he could also face a range of punishments from probation to the maximum five years jail time, depending on the federal judge assigned to the matter.
Sources revealed the deal which included a guilty plea for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, mail fraud and false statements was signed on Feb. 1
