Jeremy Meador spoke to writer, movie producer, Bobby Heyward (A&E’s Sons of Hollywood, Americas Next Top Model, The Movie) about his new Bourre project, and why NBA, and NFL players seem to be addicted to it.

BIGG CITY BOURRE LAUNCHES FIRST ANNUAL PRO-ATHLETE AND CELEBRITY INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT AT NBA ALL-STAR WEEKEND

Pro-Athletes and Celebrities compete to find out “Who is the World’s Best Bourre player” and bring to life the world’s most popular underground card game.

The Bigg City Bourre Invitational Tournament is the first sporting event to feature the game of Bourre, which is similar to Spades and Poker, and is famously popular within professional sports. The Invitational Tournament will take place during the 2013 NBA All-Star Weekend and will feature dozens of participating professional athletes and celebrities. The winner will be crowned the “Bigg City Bourre Champion” and recognized as the best Bourre player in the world. $10,000 will be donated to the winner’s charity of choice.

Launched by TV producers, Bobby Heyward (“America’s Next Top Model” and A&E’s “Sons of Hollywood”) and Rick de Oliveira (“Real World,” “Rock of Love with Brett Michaels,” “Making the Band”), and organized with Los Angeles Clipper Lamar Odom and Cleveland Cavalier Luke Walton, Bigg City Bourre will standardize and formalize the sport of Bourre for official competition. The Bigg City Bourre team combines Hollywood power players with sports know-how to bring this incredibly entertaining and fun game to the public.

The idea for organized large-scale Bourre events was born during a meeting between Heyward and then-Lakers Odom and Walton with William Morris Endeavor (WME). Inspired by a documentary on the Bourre-playing 1996 Chicago Bulls, WME arranged an introduction for Heyward with de Oliveira based on his expertise and success producing award-winning unscripted and competition-based television.
